Our school will be taking the Terra Nova achievement test on Monday, 4/27-Wednesday, 4/28. On these three days, please make sure you child gets a goodnights sleep, brings a small healthy snack (fruit, crackers, etc.), and puts on their thinking brain! This test is not graded, and does not effect your child's standing in our school in anyway. This is just another assessment tool used to see how your child compares to other students his/her age across the states. It's a way of celebrating the things he/she does know, and working on areas that are weaker.
Our class took a practice test today and learned how to listen to the questions, and fill in the answer circles. By the end of the practice test, they were pretty confident in their skills! "This is so easy for me!" said a few of the students. So I'm glad that they have learned so much and feel confident. I hope they all try their best and do well.
One thing that we worked on is being really quiet. No talking. This is hard for some of our students. But they did okay! Some needed more reminders than others. So please remind your child that being quiet helps the other students concentrate so that everyone can do their best.
